If you didn’t believe there were LGBT Transformers fans, think again. Meet Travis D. Bone. Confessions of a Transfan
Or, How I Learned to Fall In Love With a Car
By Travis D. Bone
Growing up there were two things that I loved…. Cars and robots. So in 1984 it’s not really surprising that when I heard about these new toys that were cars that turned into robots I was immediately obsessed. They were called Transformers. Robots in disguise. More than meets the eye. Yes, I am giving you every Transformer slogan and cliché in the book right now.
I’m trying to get them out of my system.
But here is the thing. For me, they weren’t just toy cars. Trust me, I had Hot Wheels and I loved them. I also had action figures that I loved. But Transformers? They were a bit of both and to this day I am still fascinated by them. I guess I am a big kid and I still love my toys. Their design and the creativity behind them have kept me entertained in ways that I can’t even begin to explain. Over the last 25 years I have continued to collect them. However, when the Transformers movie came out two years ago my appreciation for them took on a whole new meaning.
