Thankfully, things have shifted: your Friday meeting has suddenly been canceled, or the dog-sitter called to say she’s got an opening in her schedule, or your partner just came home with a sparkling, new grand tourer, and he’s got “road trip” in his eyes. So now, it looks like you’ll be able to take a quick Memorial Day vacation after all. But where to turn for advice? Try Expedia.
The popular travel website has partnered with the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association to offer a special section geared to the needs of LGBT travelers. While the IGLTA tends to focus on group sales or large events like gay cruises, Expedia’s LGBT section offers more choices for the individual or couple on the go. Sure, there are listings of major gay events — currently dominated by Pride celebrations around the globe — but there are also great overviews of gay-friendly destinations like Amsterdam, New Orleans, Puerto Vallarta, and Amsterdam. Most importantly, the site gives users the run-down on the IGLTA’s list of LGBT-friendly hotels, including booking info.
Of course, if you don’t live in the U.S., you may not have a long holiday weekend stretching out before you, but you can still make use of Expedia’s service. And surely you’ve got some vacation time around the corner. How’s about paying us a visit?
