When we think “Ricky Martin”, we think many things: music, dancing, gay dad, bedroom eyes, hotness. Now we can add “NASCAR sponsor” to that list, because Martin — or rather, the Ricky Martin Foundation — recently brought his message of child welfare to auto racing fans via a partnership with fellow Puerto Rican native Victor Gonzales Jr.
According to reports, Martin was directly involved in getting Gonzales onboard with the foundation:
“When I heard about human trafficking and learned how children are
exploited worldwide, I knew that I could help by being a ‘Voice of
Awareness’…. I feel it is my responsibility as an
athlete to be a voice spreading the message of the Foundation. The
best available estimate is that 1.2 million children are trafficked
worldwide every year for exploitation purposes such as forced labor,
commercial sexual exploitation, prostitution, and other forms of modern
day slavery.”
Kudos to Gonzales for teaming up with such a great cause and to Ricky Martin and the Ricky Martin Foundation for making some waves at NASCAR.
