All I want for Christmas is that $344,000 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante featured in this year’s Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog!
Every year the Dallas-based highfalutin’ retailer throws into its Christmas book some exorbitantly pricey, oft outlandish and ostentatious trinkets for the decadently monied masses, and the special-trim Aston Martin is this year’s pick. Neiman’s is only offering ten Volantes — at a sticker that’s $50,000 over the car’s base price — but $3,000 of that sum will be donated to one of the company’s charities.
There are about 500 items for sale in the 2013 catalog, and yes, there are a few pocket-ouchless pieces like a $12 mug. But let’s be honest: it’s those make-ya-wanna-drool fantasy gifts like the Volante that get everyone’s motor running.
Last year Neiman’s posh auto selection was a McLaren MP4-12C Spider, with 12 of those hot-rod, volcano-red, road devils up for sale. The spiffed up roadster’s sticker price was a mere $354,000 — roughly $85,000 above the price of the regular old 12C Spider — but it was chock-full of extras, which many found to be worth the extra moolah.
In 2011, Neiman’s sold ten $395,000 Ferrari FF’s in a mere 50 minutes. The year before, the retailer featured an American muscle car, the Chevy Camaro, which sported a price tag of $75,000, yet the car sold out in a record-breaking 3 minutes! WTH? What recession?
That said, if Volante is just way too poor for your gold-infused blood, then you might want to check out the catalog’s $1.8 million Forevermark Diamond Experience, which includes a 25-carat diamond (of course), an exclusive tour of DeBeers’ diamond facility, and a trip into the heart of Africa to trace the diamond’s origin. Mind the rivers of blood, y’all!
There are plenty more extravagances to be found in this year’s glossy, saucy Neiman Marcus catalog. Remember to sip and not guzzle down your haterade as you skim through.
