I will admit, I loved driving the 2024 Mercedes CLA (specifically, I tested the CLA 250 4Matic).

This is one of the nicest (and quite cramped) sportscars out there. It’s also the most affordable Benz on the lot, starting at ‘just’ over $45K US.

Edmunds.com found the CLA size (both engine size and physical size) to be a hoot, noting that it was “fun to squirtthrough traffic holes or just accelerate up to freeway speeds.”

Indeed, who doesn’t love to squirt through holes with ease and flair? (Okay, yes, I went there!) But more than that, you can get any variety of powerful engines and performance items on the CLA. You can make it anything you want it be, and truly – how gay is that?

I tested the CLA 250.  It was fast enough for me, this one featuring a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo, 221 horses and 258 pound-feet of torque. You can buy even racier models that almost guarantee a few speeding tickets….

(So you know, the difference between the Mercedes CLA and CLE is, well, kind of a tossup. The CLE – which I reviewed for another gay website – is also a hoot and is available as an SUV (sorta) and has more engine options.)

 

Driving this around the Rockies this summer was a blast.  I didn’t do any leaf-peeping this autumn; too many crazy people chasing leaves and even engaging in road rage.  But I still had fun, spinning around town like a little squirt while listening to Halloween classics (ya know, like Monster Mash).

But for you wild types with money to burn (after rent and groceries), let it rip and go wild.  And it would be a good idea to have another car for your regular life.

Okay, now for a far more serious topic.  Have you voted early?  Do you have a plan for election day? And, on a personal note, how are you dealing with your anxiety?  (For me, I am not dealing with that one very well.)

If the wrong people get into power (think Golden Arches), anything LGBT (including this website) could be deemed obscene and we, along with many of our dear friends, could disappear. I am dead serious about this.

Please take the time to vote, even if that means taking the day off to do it.  And do it wearing Azul proudly.
