January 29, 2009 – This just in: Volvo Cars North America just announced pricing of the 2010 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD – starting MSRP of $37,200 plus destination charge of $825. That includes leather seating, their innovative City Safety System, power driver’s seat, SIRIUS satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth and the Panorama sunroof.
If that sounds a little pricey, consider this; a similarly equipped Merdeces-Benz GLK is over $40K and the BMW X3 xDrive3.0i is over $42K.
Clearly Volvo is being very aggressive with their pricing and they need to be. They haven’t been immune to the abysmal market conditions and they face stiff competition from the GLK350 and the upcoming Audi Q5.
January 21 – 23, 2009 – San Francisco, CA – I am sitting in my hotel room at the base of the Golden Gate bridge getting ready to begin the festivities surrounding the U.S. launch of the 2010 Volvo XC60. As social media is such a hot topic and Twitter is amongst the least understood (even by me) of the social mediums, I am going to run an experiment. Starting tonight, I’ll be updating this post via Twitter. They’ll be short bursts of information as I see, feel, smell and/or taste it and they will appear below. Simply come back periodically tonight and tomorrow to get the latest and greatest.
Let me know what you think about this and if you want, you can follow me on Twitter by clicking HERE. Photos are below the Twitter post.
Note: The images below are a digital copy of the Twitter “tweets” I entered during my day-long drive of the Volvo XC60. The are in reverse-chronological order. I will post a full-review once pricing is announced.
