The new XC60 makes its world premier at the Geneva Motor Show on March 4. These are the first official pictures of the new small luxury crossover from Volvo. No official word yet on drivetrains yet but it is a sure bet they will mimic those of the S60 sedan – a choice of turbocharged 5-cylinders with either front or AWD.
What Volvo is calling the “Small Premium Utility” is the one of the fastest growing segments in the industry and the new XC60 will compete with the likes of the BMW X3, Acura RDX, Infiniti EX35 and Mercedes-Benz GLK. From the looks of the photos, the design clearly communicates the new Volvo aesthetic with strong C30 influence in the rear and the gorgeous simplicity of a Scandinavian interior.
The first cars will reach dealers in Europe in fall 2008 with the U.S. launch following shortly thereafter; sometime in the first three months of 2009.
