Vancouver, BC, Canada – I just spent the day driving the new Subaru 2.5GT and WRX on Vancouver Island in stunning British Columbia, Canada. Our driving impressions are embargoed until August 15th but we thought you might want some photos to wet your whistle while you wait.
The 2.5GT is essentially last year’s WRX featuring a 224-hp turbo 4-cylinder and is available only with the 4-speed automatic. The new WRX gets 41 more horsepower (265-hp), a stiffer suspension, some unique styling cues and a 5-speed manual only. Both trims are available in 5-door hatch and 4-door sedan.
During the event, we were able to drive a slightly modified (wheels and tires) WRX on a rally course with a professional driver as our instructor. After I navigated the course behind the wheel, we switched places and my instructor showed me how to do it properly. Watch the video below!
Check back in a few weeks for our driving impressions and pricing. IN the meantime, enjoy the photos below courtesy of Subaru of America.
