The first-generation Nissan Rogue Sport (which is technically the second-generation Nissan Qashqai) is a street-savvy, versatile crossover that’s nicely equipped for life’s daily activities or routine-breaking grand adventures. With its modern design and stylish, sports car-inspired looks, the Sport is ready for crack-of-dawn carpooling or a late night on the town.
The interior has a handcrafted feel that reminds me of more expensive brands, with spacious front seating that should appeal to the size-queen in most of us. I especially like the dog-bone shaped cup-holder, which can hold your sports bottle or cellphone. The flexible design of the cargo area provides both space and versatility; the divide-n-hide feature allows multiple configurations and flip-up panels to keep things from rolling around or stash valuables out of sight.
The technology built into the Rogue Sport is impressive. You’ll find Siri Eyes-Free, voice-guided navigation, and Google search, while NissanConnect lets you access mobile apps right from the console display. With safety features previously reserved for premium name-plates, the Rogue Sport has collision avoidance with forward emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and the model also offers a virtual composite 360 bird’s-eye view with split-screen display so you can ease into–or out of–a tight parking spot.
The Rogue Sport is fuel-efficient too, earning 32 MPG highway–at least in its most eco-friendly mode. I preferred switching the Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission to sport mode for better performance. Thanks to the intelligent all-wheel drive, the Rogue Sport can adapt to changing road conditions faster than the blink of an eye, boasting features like active engine brake, trace control, and ride control, which deliver a smooth and controlled driving experience.
In short, the new Rogue Sport is a complete package. Look for my next article, and don’t forget to leave comments. Cheers, and happy driving!
