Parking for the Protest

Our friends over at TheCarConnection.com have posted information on where to park in San Francisco in anticipation of all of our brothers and sisters marching in the streets to protest the decision of the CA Supreme court to uphold the decision on Prop 8 banning gay marriage. [...]

Is Your Car Insurance Gay-Friendly?

How many times have you read something like this: “In a recent survey over 85% of cat owners that were born on Mondays in the odd months say that they would switch their pet food if they found out their current brand wasn’t gay-friendly”. Can you relate? Do you make decisions like this? Have the recent debates about gay marriage cemented your resolve to spend money with gay-friendly companies? [...]

Gay Car Buyers are Brand Agnostic

River Edge, NJ – Data from Gaywheels.com shows that the majority of gay car shoppers are brand agnostic when searching for a new vehicle. The analysis examined how in-market gay car shoppers search for new car retailers, found that more than half (54%) of gay consumers allowed their purchasing decision to be driven by the proximity of a gay-friendly dealership rather than an allegiance to a specific make of vehicle. [...]

Nissan EV – First Drive

I had the opportunity to drive a powertrain last week. Yes, I said a powertrain and not a vehicle. That cute little panda-like ride you see above is a beard for Nissan’s new electric vehicle (EV) and while it looks cute in its two-tone paint job, it is what lies beneath that is important. Electric vehicles are not new for Nissan. In fact, they introduced their first electric car in 1998 and then offered a micro car called the Hypermini for limited lease in 2000. Nissan’s executives spoke to this fact a few times during the presentation – perhaps to overcome the doubt that Nissan is serious about launching a EV next year in limited markets and then globally in 2012. Battle of the Boxes

I remember countless hours spent as a child playing in a box. Yes, a standard-issue cardboard box. If it was raining or too cold outside, my mother would pull out a box from the closet and the fun ensued. To add context to this story, our TV was B&W, there were only three channels and computers and video games were things of the distant future. So if there was nothing suitable on TV and Mother couldn’t send us outside to play (or lock us in the dog pen – true story), we had to entertain ourselves and, gasp(!), we used our imaginations. 2009 Scion xB 2010 Kia Soul 2009 Nissan Cube [...]

Tales of Dealer Hell – Round 2

I have yet to hear back from Prestige BMW in Ramsey. We were able to find the original contract and calculate that it will be less expensive for my brother to either turn the car in and pay the remaining payments due or simply park the car and make the payments until it is due in September. It would be great if someone at Prestige BMW would bother to get back to us to help us work this out. The contract loosely states that there may be “additional penalties” for early termination. All I want to know is what they are. [...]

Tales of Dealer Hell

As an automotive industry veteran, I haven’t had to personally deal with a dealer in over 10 years. When I worked for an OEM, I ordered my car and it picked it up at HQ. Now, I take delivery of press vehicles on a weekly basis and the only time I go near a dealer is to drop a family member off for service. I began the data gathering this morning and am appalled at how difficult it is to deal with the dealers in question. So, I decided to share my experience with you and hopefully, learn some new tricks to help your next dealer experience be less painful. [...]

New Vespa Store in NYC!

We here at Gaywheels have been debating adding two-wheeled reviews for a while now. With the economy still uncertain and the fact that the majority of our readers are in urban areas like San Francisco, NYC and LA, it makes sense that we cover the two-wheeled options available to us. It has been on my “to-do” list for quite a while but the timing never seemed right; until now. Vespa is opening a new showroom in Manhattan and our friends at Brandware PR sent us the following information. [...]

Top 10 Most Researched Vehicles – 1st Quarter 2009

River Edge, NJ – Gays and lesbians continue to do their homework when it comes to buying cars and the Volkswagen Rabbit and Eos remain at the top of their list when searching on Gaywheels.com, the sole source of information specifically targeted to and about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) car-shoppers. Today, Gaywheels.com announced its list of the Top 10 Most-Researched Vehicles during the first quarter of 2009. [...]
