GM Has an “Outie”

GM is a strong supporter of LGBT media and events and one of the first to recognize this site as a valuable media outlet. Their acumen in identifying and courting the LGBT consumer did not happen overnight or because of one person’s efforts. Rather, a group of employees have worked diligently over the years to raise awareness internally of LGBT issues and have tirelessly stood up for their rights as employees. All that hard work has paid off and GM’s employee resource group (PLUS) has been recognized by Out & Equal as LGBT Employee Resource group of the year. [...]

Chief Gay Officer Leaves GM

I was asked to collaborate in a digital farewell to our favorite CGO (Chief Gay Officer) – Travis Parman – formally of GM. How could I say no? Travis is leaving the General after almost 11 years of service and we will miss him. He was an champion for reaching out the LGBT media and made sure sites like Gaywheels were included on events along with the mainstream outlets. One last thought; on Travis’ last day, GM also lost an executive on the Volt program and the Saturn sale to Penske fell through. Coincidence? You decide. [...]

Donny Nordlicht, recently featured in our HEADLIGHTS section, has been helping keep my life in order and as a result, the site on track. He’s also been writing reviews for the us and brings a more youthful point of view to our content. It doesn’t happen very often but Donny and I both spent time in a 2009 Chevy Traverse and decided to share our opinions of it in a very “new media” way – via a chat conversation. [...]

While I recover, you can watch the press conference below care of GM. You can also visit GM’s site, GM Reinvention (http://www.gmreinvention.com/) to get their perspective. [...]

A Case for Keeping Saab

I was asked my opinion on Saab by the Swedish newspaper Expressen. This is the article as was provided to them in English. One could write a book on this subject; I was limited to 4,000 spaces. The current global economic situation dictates that individuals and companies re-evaluate their financial situation and ascertain where they can cut back in order to survive the downturn. For a family, it may mean eating out less, buying fewer clothes or selling a vehicle that they don’t rely on. For an auto company…….. [...]

Gay Days at the LA Auto Show – Photos

We were a co-sponsor but sadly weren’t able to attend the first Gay Days at the LA Auto show this past Sunday. Attendance was higher than expected with an approximate 200 LGBT auto enthusiasts walking the floor of the LA Convention Center and taking in all the new sheet metal. We hope to have an entry from a reporter that was on site but we wanted to make sure you had a chance to see some photos taken by a representative of GM. [...]
