2026 Mazda CX-30: One of the Best in the Mighty Mouse Category

I love the Mazda 3s, and the 2026 Mazda CX-30, a compact crossover SUV, is a solid little car that comes with a turbo, plenty of pep and an average 25 mpg.

U.S. News and World Report, one of my first go-to places for real news on real concerns, ranks the 2026 CX-30 as No.1 in the Subcompact SUV category. They cite its “high-fashion design and sporty driving manners” as two reasons why it stands above its competitors in this Mighty Mouse category.

Edmunds.com describes the CX-30 as “pint-sized” and it is hard to argue with that.  While most average-sized adults can get in and out without too much hassle, those of us who are a bit on the big-boned side will need to maneuver a bit.

Thus, caution is advised, as is always the case with these small but very efficient cars.

The big downside to the CX-30, or any subcompact, is the interior space. You’ll get 20 cubic feet of cargo space with the backseats up, and about 45 cubic feet of space if you fold them down, which ain’t bad for the class.

But try getting your netball teammates in the backseats and it could be a bit of a challenge.  It can be done, sure, and they can be comfortable.  My advice would be that if you do get the CX-30, this will be a car for just you and your dearly beloved and Fluffy or Sparky and that’s it.

This year’s CX-30 can be had for a starting price of around $27K US, which isn’t too bad for a new car.

In addition to All-Wheel Drive, standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, forward collision mitigation, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, push button start and power windows, to name a few.

It is indeed a peppy little vehicle, perfect for the urban jungle where most LGT2SQIAB++ people like us live.  Here, I want to give a special shout out to our Two-Spirt Community (the 2S in our ever-more-inclusive community).  These great individuals have kept these United lands thriving for thousands of years and continue to do so, even as they continue to be handcuffed, both figuratively and literally.

I wish I could give a CX-30 to each of them.

There is so much going on in the world right now – and here at home, wherever you call home – I don’t know where to begin.  So I will just leave it at that.

As always, let us know your thoughts and how we can help.  Now is not a great time to be shopping for a car, but if you need one, you need one.

I always recommend buying a new car if possible.  Here’s a link to an article I wrote about shopping for a used car that I published in Bear World Magazine, a website for larger men.  Regardless of size, the same rules apply: Do your homework, and buyer beware.

We really do want to hear from you.  We here at gaywheels.com don’t live in a glass tower like those Carvana cars, yet we don’t always know what is going on out there with everyday people like you.

Help us stay informed.  We will do our best to answer your questions.  Honestly.

Without honestly in journalism or government, what do we have?
