GM’s Volt Revealed – Photos & Video

Detroit, MI – GM rolled out the production version of the Chevy Volt Electric vehicle during the 100-year anniversary at their world HQ in downtown Detroit. The widely anticipated vehicle has been the subject of much media coverage and equal amount of doubt that GM could pull off what amounts to a revolution in personal propulsion. Photos inside! [...]

You’re Invited to GM’s 100th Birthday

7:30 PM, Monday, September 15, 2008 – Ok, we got clarification from the GM PR team. You will be able to watch the events celebrating GM’s 100th birthday right here on Gaywheels.com. It all starts at 8:25 AM Eastern time Tuesday, September 16th and as I am typing this, I realize that I know two of the people that will be presenting tomorrow. The local Channel 7 news just reported that Nekeidra Shegog from the Atlanta regional office and Vijay Iyer from GM’s European design center in Germany will be two of the key presenters. I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Nekeidra for the past few years in Atlanta and Vijay has had to deal with my incorrigible self at a few auto shows. Both are young, good looking and should do GM proud. [...]

2009 VW CC – Preview

Wednesday, September 10, 2008 – I just drove the new VW CC from Atlanta to Nashville and had every intention of getting the review up today while my impressions are still fresh. Of course, the minutia of running the site and trying to eek out a few more pennies from your eyeballs got in the way and here I am at the end of the day without a review written. [...]

Behind the Scenes at Project Runway

I came out of the closet as a Project Runway fan after last week’s episode. Never before did I have a reason to write about my little addiction but when Saturn took center stage and our friend Chris Webb was featured in the first five minutes, I just couldn’t hold back! We promised an interview with Chris Webb and thanks to the wonderful PR divas at GM, we now have some of his snarky insight to what went down last week in NYC. [...]

Six Automakers Score 100 with HRC

9/2/2008 – The Human Rights Campaign Foundation just released its 2009 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) and 6 of the 259 major U.S. businesses that scored a top rating of 100 percent are automotive manufacturers. Listed in alphabetical order they are: Chrysler, Ford, GM, Subaru, Toyota and VW. Subaru, in concert with their long-standing support of the LGBT community, is not surprising. Some might be taken back by the other companies on the list as well as those that didn’t achieve a perfect score. [...]

Sexy by Saturn on Project Runway

I have a secret – I am a Project Runway fan. Not a crazed “I have to see it or I’ll go crazy” fan but I do enjoy watching Tim Gunn stare down the designs and scowl while saying “you’ve got a lot of work to do”. Oh yeah, and the bitchy, backstabbing, whiny designers can be fun too. When I happened to be watching the other night and it was an automotive-themed episode of Project Runway, I was fast-clapping inside my head. [...]

Emigrating in an Enclave

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 – I’m happy to report that the Enclave past the niece and nephews test with flying colors. They climbed right in, grabbed the wireless headphones for the optional rear entertainment system and settled down for a ride to the local pond and back. We had a total of 6 people with an even ratio of adults to kids and the Enclave seemed very much at home. The roads in Ridgefield, CT are narrow, and undulate and weave their way through the countryside. The Enclave handled the curves with ease and delivered its cargo on both ends of the trip in comfort.
